Trans Health Connection is an initiative of Rainbow Health Ontario and Sherbourne Health Centre, is increasing the capacity of Ontario’s primary health care system to provide better care to trans communities.
February 21st was the first of four sessions being held over the Ontario Telehealth Network (OTN) and shared between the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, the Ajax Youth Centre, and the Oshawa Community Health Centre. The first session was entitled Introduction to Trans Cultural Competence.
The primary presenters were Hershel Russell and Jordan Zaitzow, and I found their presentation very thorough and engaging. I spoke about some of my personal experience, and made some wonderful connections at the event.
The next three events are:
March 7, Providing Trans-Related Clinical Care
April 12, Trans Surgery Overview and Holistic Case Work
May 6, Counselling Trans Clients
It’s wonderful to see this work being extended to Durham Region!
